Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026. This describes what EvoWordo actually stores and why. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.

The short version

You can play without giving any personal information. There is no sign-up, no email required and no password. EvoWordo stores a random identifier and your game results so streaks and leaderboards work, and keeps your settings in your own browser. Nothing is sold. Advertising and donations are handled by Google and Paystack under their own policies.

Who is responsible

EvoWordo is operated by [PLACEHOLDER — operator legal or trading name], contactable at anothermobile14@gmail.com. For the purposes of data protection law, the operator is the data controller for the information described on this page.

EvoWordo is an independent project and is not affiliated with any other word game or its publisher.

What is collected

If you play anonymously

A random identifier is generated in your browser the first time you play. It is not derived from your device, your network or anything about you — it is a random value whose only purpose is to attach your results to something so a streak can persist between visits.

Alongside it, EvoWordo stores the display name you type in, your Daily Challenge results (the words you guessed, the resulting tile patterns, how many attempts you took and whether you won), and your aggregate statistics such as games played, wins, current streak and longest streak.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional. It uses Replit as an identity provider over OpenID Connect, which returns a user identifier and basic profile details such as an email address, name and profile image where the provider supplies them. EvoWordo never receives or stores your password. Progress made anonymously can be merged into your account when you sign in, so nothing is lost.

When you play multiplayer

While a round is in progress the server holds the room state needed to run it: who is in the room, each player’s guesses and scored patterns, the secret word and the round outcome. This exists to operate the game, and multiplayer room state is transient rather than a permanent record of your play.

When you send feedback

The feedback form stores the category you chose, your message, and an email address only if you choose to supply one. Leaving it blank is fine, and the form works without it.

Technical and operational data

Like any website, requests to EvoWordo are logged by the hosting infrastructure for reliability and abuse prevention. Gameplay events are also recorded in an internal log used to diagnose problems and understand which modes are used.

What is not collected

  • No password is ever collected. Anonymous play has none, and signing in is delegated to an identity provider.
  • No email address is required to play. One is only involved if you sign in, or if you choose to supply one with feedback.
  • No payment or card details are received. Donations are processed entirely by Paystack and never pass through EvoWordo.
  • There is no chat in any mode, so no private messages exist to store.
  • Personal data is not sold, rented or traded to third parties.

Cookies and browser storage

Session cookie

EvoWordo sets one cookie of its own, named connect.sid. It holds a signed session identifier and nothing else — no personal details are stored inside it. It is what allows the server to recognise your session across requests, whether you are signed in or playing anonymously. It is strictly necessary for the site to function.

Local storage in your browser

Preferences and identifiers are kept in your browser’s local storage rather than sent as cookies. These are readable only by EvoWordo and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings, which resets your anonymous identity and preferences.

wp.playerId
A random identifier generated in your browser so your progress can be recognised without an account.
wp.lastName
The display name you chose, so you are not asked for it every visit.
wp.lastRoomId
The last multiplayer room you were in, used to offer a reconnect.
wp.colorblindTiles, wp.reducedMotion
Your accessibility preferences.
wordleplus_audio_enabled, wordleplus_audio_volume
Your sound and volume settings.
wp.duelSwipeHint, wp.lastSocketId.wasHost
Small interface flags, such as whether a one-off hint has been shown.

Advertising cookies

Where advertising is served, the advertising provider may set its own cookies or similar identifiers. Those are described in the next section and are not controlled by EvoWordo.

Third parties

Google AdSense

EvoWordo may display advertising served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where permitted. This processing is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy, and you can review or change your own settings at Google Ad Settings.

Replit (sign-in)

Optional sign-in is provided by Replit as an OpenID Connect identity provider. If you choose to sign in, your interaction with that provider is governed by its own privacy policy.

Paystack (donations)

The optional donation link opens a payment page hosted by Paystack. Any details you enter there are collected and processed by Paystack under its own terms. EvoWordo does not receive your payment information.

Hosting

The site and its database run on third-party infrastructure providers, which necessarily process data on the operator’s behalf in order to serve the site.

Why this data is used

Everything above exists for one of four reasons: to run the game you asked to play, to keep leaderboards and streaks accurate and resistant to tampering, to diagnose faults and prevent abuse, and — where advertising is shown — to fund hosting so the game can stay free.

Where a legal basis is required, gameplay and account data are processed to provide the service you requested, security and diagnostic logging rests on legitimate interests, and advertising cookies rely on consent where local law requires it.

How long it is kept

Daily Challenge results and account statistics are kept for as long as the account or anonymous profile exists, because removing them would break historical streaks and leaderboard standings.

Session records expire automatically and are cleaned up on a schedule. Multiplayer room state is transient and abandoned rooms are removed automatically. Feedback submissions are kept while they are still useful for fixing the thing they reported.

Your choices and rights

You can clear your browser storage at any time to reset your anonymous identity, display name and preferences. You can decline to sign in and still use every mode. You can play without ever submitting feedback or making a donation.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email anothermobile14@gmail.com. If you are asking for deletion, please include your display name and, if you have it, the player identifier stored in your browser, so the right records can be found.

Children

EvoWordo is a word game with no chat and is suitable for general audiences, but it is not directed at children under 13 and accounts are not knowingly created for them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact the address above and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated when the way EvoWordo handles data changes. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced individually.
